Founded in 1975 as a not-for-profit arts education organization, Children's Dance Foundation (CDF) believes that dance is a foundation for life and for learning. Over 20 teaching artists are on staff with CDF and dance with over 3,000 typical and challenged children and adults almost every day of the year, with a mission to train aspiring dancers as well as empower the disenfranchised and the underserved. Our extensive programs and services remain true to our founding mission: to provide quality dance education to students of all ages and abilities, fostering many essential skills, creativity and confidence. Community service through the power of dance is the bedrock of our work. CDF offers six main programs for our community: Educational Outreach, Studio Classes, School Touring Programs, Educator and Parent Resources, Student Performances, and Creative Workspace for community arts and arts organizations. Over half of our outreach serves children who are mentally, physically, emotionally or economically challenged. In addition to these classes, CDF reaches over 16,000 others each year through staff and student performances, special events and educator training. All of our programs are based on a nurturing, inclusive and skill-building philosophy, and are offered through community collaborations and partnerships.
